Overview

SUPPLIER QUALITY ASSURANCE (BTM-22-1322-F):

 

Bowhead Manufacturing is looking for an experienced Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) professional in Plano, Texas. The SQA will be responsible for developing, maintaining and supporting supplier quality assurance efforts for the Manufacturing Division of the Bowhead Family of Companies. The Supplier Quality Assurance specialist will also ensure that products and services meet drawing and purchase order specification requirements for all purchased components and assemblies. Effective quality assurance incorporates a combination of process and product audits that manage external and internal checks and focus on supplier management and quality conformity of the product through lifecycle production. As such, the Supply Quality Assurance specialist must use a combination of best practices/processes and audits focused on supply management and quality conformity of the vendor's product.

 

 

Responsibilities

Essential functions will include:

 

  • Leading the inspection department and driving key improvements with suppliers
  • Reviewing and providing input for supplier selection activities including supplier evaluation, quality systems audits, new purchase order supplier kick-offs and coordinating supplier process capability programs for new and current production components, assemblies, and special processes
  • Developing quality plans for new product introduction that include general and by part number Purchase Order flow downs, First Article Inspections, Source Inspections, supplier production sample inspections, incoming inspection plans, etc
  • Defining inspection processes, requirements, frequency and sampling
  • Developing suppliers to assure successful supplier quality metrics by ensuring suppliers understand contract compliance, engineering documentation, FAI process, nonconformance and RCCA process, workmanship standards, etc
  • Reviewing and approving supplier first article inspections and leading on-site audits, evaluating prototypes, and reviewing supplier's corrective actions
  • Leading failure analysis activities, compiling data and reducing product failure modes
  • Ensuring the timely processing of any product non-conformances found at inspection
  • Identifying and eliminating the cost of quality drivers
  • Certifying supplier and sub-tier supplier special processes
  • Driving CAPA associated with poor product quality through the supply chain to insure that any findings or non-conformances are addressed
  • Summarizing and presenting product quality data to management team
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

All job offers in connection with a covered contract will be contingent upon providing proof of vaccination prior to your anticipated start date.

 

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field in addition to a minimum of five (5+) years of appropriate industry experience is required
  • An ASQ Certified Quality Engineer is highly preferred but not required
  • DoD contractor experience, specifically in a manufacturing environment, is highly desired
  • Must possess proficient technical expertise and knowledge including precision machining of components, sheet metal fabrication, component special processes
  • Experience in ISO 9001 / AS9100 Standards and Audits, 6 Sigma tools and Statistics is required. Certified quality auditor preferred
  • Must possess the ability to read blue prints and understand industry and military specifications
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, writing and computer skills
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: There are currently no DoD Security Clearance requirements for this position; however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check. Due to the nature of this work, US Citizenship is required.
