Overview

Join the UMIAQ Environmental team! We are
looking for residents in Anaktuvuk Pass to provide
support for Environmental Cleanup Services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform physical labor associated with environmental cleanup
activities. Follow applicable regulations, and site specific safety plans
when performing cleanup activities. Operate routinely used tools and
equipment. Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance
on assigned equipment. Perform other duties as assigned by Project
Supervisor.

Responsibilities

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• All employees must pass non-DOT pre-employment drug screening
and follow all UIC DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program guidelines
and requirements.
• Employee must have a valid driver’s license and three year clean
driving record. Employee must follow all UIC Authorized Driver Policy
and Procedures.
Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise:
• Must have hazardous waste experience and/or be able to successfully
complete a 40 hr HAZWOPER certification (prior to start date).
• Must have Asbestos Awareness in Construction certification, or be
able to successfully complete 2 hr Asbestos course (prior to start
date).
• High school diploma or GED.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States (verified through EVerify).
• Must be able to interpret and follow written and oral instructions and
assignments.
• Ability to execute instructions and remain flexible in a dynamic
environment.
• Must be able to work harmoniously as part of a Company team as
well as provide excellent services to customers.

Qualifications

Physical Demands:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be
required to read text on a computer screen and in hard copy, stand or
sit, talk, and hear.
• Exposure to moderate levels of noise in a well-lit, well-ventilated and
moderately paced environment.
• Employee must always have good balance and coordination in order to
safely walk over uneven and/or slippery surfaces.
• Must be able to kneel, climb ladders, and stairs.

 

Must be able to work in cold/hot weather while wearing
required PPE (e.g. chemical protective clothing,
respirators, goggles, etc.).
• Employee must be able to write in English, read in
English, possess good verbal presentation and be able to
communicate using the radio, speaker, or electronic
communication by using the English language.
• Repetitive and prolonged postures involving standing,
sittng, twisting, squating, kneeling, stooping and
reaching to full range from above the head to the ground.
• Employee must have the ability to move extremities and
spine through full physiological range of motion that will
permit the employee to work in a variety of postures
involving postures allowing reaching with hands from
ground level to overhead level.
Environmental Conditions / Field Settng:
• May work in fog, dark, and other visibility limitng
conditions.
• May be exposed to fuels, solvents, cleaners, dust, fumes,
smoke, and gases.
• Irregular working hours
• Arctic environment including low temperatures, high
wind, and icing.
• Hazard awareness and corrective action is a constant
function of the job due to extreme work environment.
