Engineering Prototype & Fabrication Shop Landing Page: 

 

Bowhead is seeking to network with individuals to join our team for the Engineering Prototype & Fabrication Shop effort. On this effort we will perform development, testing, installation, and maintenance of shipboard and shore based electronic equipment. Support remote equipment installation requirements, including shipboard installation, fabricating models, including metal, wood, and fiberglass, and providing mechanical engineering consultation on projects.

Responsibilities

List of open positons:

  • Architectural and Engineering Manager – Senior: BS or BA degree. Ten (10) years of experience in engineering or technical management with Navy or other DoD programs
  • Industrial Production Manager – Journeyman: BS or BA Degree. Three (3) to ten (10) years of experience in engineering or technical management with Navy or other DoD programs
  • Engineering Technician V-Cutting, Punching, and Press Machine Setters, Operators and Tenders, Metal and Plastic: Must be a certified welder (Welders shall be certified IAW with AWSD17-1 for (minimum) processes of: GTAW and GMAW; and material groups 1b, and 1V). Completion of a technical school, trade school or advanced technical school curriculum or course of training in mechanics or engineering technology; or completion of at least twenty-four (24) semester hours of course of studies at an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific or technical curriculum
  • Occupational Health & Safety Specialist:  BA or BS Degree. Five (5) years of experience (within the last ten (10) years) performing the foregoing functions in manufacturing or industrial environments with Navy or other DoD programs
  • Program / Project / Management Analyst – Journeyman: Five (5) years of experience (within the last ten (10) years) in performing the foregoing functions with proficiency in Navy procurement guidelines and market research experience including HAZMAT and National Stock Number (NSN) processes and procedures with Navy or other DoD programs. 
  • Cost Estimator:  BA or BS Degree. Five (5) years of experience in the foregoing functions with Navy or other DoD program
  • Engineering Technician V- Inspectors, Testers, Sorters, Samplers and Weighers: Five (5) years of experience in quality inspection and standards documentation.
  • Engineering Technician IV- Fiberglass Laminators and Fabricator:High School Diploma or High School equivalency certification; and Completion of a technical school, trade school or advanced technical school curriculum or course of training in mechanics or engineering technology; or completion of at least twelve (12) semester hours of course of studies at an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific or technical curriculum. Three (3) years’ experience in performing fiberglass repair of antennas, radomes, or similar products.
  • Engineering Technician V- Cutting, Punching, and Press Machine Setters, Operators and Tenders, Metal and Plastic: High School Diploma or High School equivalency certification. Completion of a technical school, trade school or advanced technical school curriculum or course of training in mechanics or engineering technology; or completion of at least twenty-four (24) semester hours of course of studies at an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific or technical curriculum. Five (5) years of experience in performing the foregoing functions with two (2) years’ experience developing mechanical devices for installation aboard ship, on aircraft or at shore stations.
  • Engineering Technician V- Computer Numerically Controlled Tool Programmers:  High School Diploma or High School equivalency certification; and, Completion of a technical school, trade school or advanced technical school curriculum or course of training in mechanics or engineering technology; or completion of at least twenty-four (24) semester hours of course of studies at an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific or technical curriculum. Five (5) years of experience in performing the foregoing functions with three (3) years’ experience operating a variety of CNC machines
  • First-Line supervisors of Production and Operating Workers – Journeyman: BA or BS Degree. Eight (8) years of experience in performing the foregoing functions of managing, operating, controlling mechanical, engineering, prototyping and fabrication shop programs; and, experience could be attained in either building trades or instrumentation sheet metal or mechanical trades.

Qualifications

  • Degrees and experience levels required will vary upon position and contract requirements at time of award
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 to 100 pounds 
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

Pay commensurate with experience.

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
