Overview

Bowhead seeks a Field Service Representative to the support the eXportable Combat Training Capability (XCTC) Program is the Army National Guard (ARNG) located in Louisville, KY. This position is a fulltime Exempt (salary) position supporting the XCTC Program and may support work originating at any, or all of the multiple scheduled locations of these events.

Responsibilities

  • Travel as required (3-4 months/year).
  • Once assigned an exercise team, the FSR become a team member of the LOG for field operations. During setup and tear down, once the System goes live, direction should be from I&C Chief.
  • Participate in 1 to 2 exercise/rotations per year.
  • Supervise bulk battery charging for the instrumentation.
  • Participate in the training of temporary employees at exercise locations as needed.
  • Assist with the supervision of the facilities team that conducts the set-up, test, repair, operation, tear down, and pack up of equipment i.e communication towers, simi semi-trailers, HVACs and generator sets.
  • Coordinate with the LOG to help the training unit and MILES contact team to schedule, issue, and install instrumentation on both individuals and vehicles FREDI issues.
  • Assist the strict inventory control and accountability of exercise equipment.
  • Participate in and document the issue, installation, maintenance, and recovery of instrumentation components.
  • Responsible for 100% accountability of all equipment.
  • Assist with the coordination of pack out, unloading, and shipping of equipment.
  • Work with the exercise team to close out exercise.
  • Assist with completing inventory sheets and provide input for required shipping paperwork.
  • Assist with trailer shipment and load planning.
  • Provide lessons learned and recommendations for continual improvement of exercise support capabilities, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Supervises the repair and maintenance of Government owned equipment, ensuring Sub-contractors have the resources to maintain all the equipment for the next season of training.
  • Assist with the planning, sets priorities, and assigns work to temp personnel in accordance with overall company priorities and maintenance schedules.
  • Troubleshoot and assist in determining causes of malfunctions on equipment.
  • Provides instruction and direction to less experienced personnel on complex repairs.
  • Determines cost effectiveness of in-house work versus contracting out specific tasks.
  • Ensure returning damaged equipment to service and recommends retirement or scrapping of equipment.
  • Ensures safe working practices and conditions in the equipment shop. Participate in 2 to 4 exercise/rotations per year. While in support rotational exercises:
    •  Be the Maintenance SME by rolling up all the exercise teams.
    •  Deficient equipment managing (oversight).
    •  Provide instructions and monitor repair and perform preventive maintenance in the field.
    •  Advise Sustainment leadership on all equipment failures and corrective actions performed.
    •  Document assets, findings, and training for lessons learned.
    •  Participate in and document the issuing and installation of equipment.
    •  Maintain and oversee the recovery of instrumentation components.
    •  Responsible for 100% accountability of all equipment (end item and components).
    •  Supervise bulk battery charging for the instrumentation and sustainment.
    •  Participate in the training of temporary employees, assist a strict inventory control and accountability of exercise equipment.
    •  Coordinate with the LOG, training unit and instrumentation contact team to schedule, issue, and install instrumentation on both individuals and vehicles.
    •  Assist with the coordination of pack out, unloading, and shipping of equipment.
    •  Work with the exercise team to close out exercise.
    •  Assist to complete inventory sheets and provide input for required shipping paperwork.
    •  Assist with trailer shipment.
    •  Provide lessons learned and recommendations for continual improvement of exercise support capabilities, effectiveness, and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Computers experience/certification strongly desired.
  • BA/S degree is preferred.
  • Hands on mechanics experience with Diesel Engines, certification strongly desired.
  • Experience/Knowledge with 7k, 15k, and 25k Generators
  • Experience/Knowledge in Diagnosing, Troubleshooting, Maintenance and Repair of 2 – 5 Ton A/C Units
  • Experience/Knowledge with UHF and RF Communications, Network and Coverage Setup
  • Experience/Knowledge with Electronic Component Diagnosing, Troubleshooting, Repairing.
  • How to read electrical schematics and diagrams.
  • Ability to Solder, Certification strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of Networking, Switching, and Configuration
  • Cable Assembly and Repair of  CAT5e/CAT6, HDMI, Coaxial cables and assemblies.
  • Familiar with testing, trouble shooting, repairing equipment strongly desired.
  • Forklift experience/certification strongly desired.
  • Documentation and technical writing skills desired.
  • Prior military service and/or familiarity with military training systems/events and U.S. Army property accountability procedures strongly desired.
  • Demonstrate proficient oral and written communication, with strong attention to detail and an ability to interact effectively with people of varying technical abilities (engineers, technicians, and military personnel).
  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Identifies potential and emerging problems with both equipment and personnel.
  • Demonstrates flexible team-oriented attitude; adapts to changing requirements.
  • Able to perform well and adapt in high-stress, fast-paced environments.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.

 

Physical Demands:
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently have and able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret. US Citizenship is a requirement for admission to this location.
