Overview

PERSONAL PROGRAMS SUBMJECT MATTER EXPERT (AFMDS):

 

Bowhead is seeking a Personnel Programs Subject Matter Expert (SME) at Shaw AFB, SC to support 15th Air Force in advising, assisting, advocating, integrating, and certifying (A3IC) its Force Elements at assigned wings and Direct Reporting Units (DRU).  The SME assists 15 AF/A1 and Commander's Support Staff (CSS) in Senior Leader Management.  Assists in management of a variety of actions affecting Directors and O-6 and above personnel to include, but not limited to, assignments (Command Screening Board (CSB) and O-6 Gameplan), deployment actions, promotion boards, evaluations, decorations, duty information updates & personnel record corrections/adjustments, military education requirements, and retirement actions.

Responsibilities

Specified tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Provide subject matter expertise to the 15 AF/A1 director on personnel practices and programs impacting the management and employment of military and civilian members assigned to the HQ staff, and assigned 13 wings and 3 DRUs
  • Assist 15 AF/A1 to ensure all 15 AF subordinate units have current and correct guidance and policies related to personnel programs, and to take corrective action where necessary to avoid disruption of any particular personnel program or project
  • Assist in ensuring all approved promotion recommendation forms are reviewed, verified for correctness and accuracy, and submitted to the ACC Management Level Review Board in a timely manner.
  • Provide expertise and assistance for the 15 AF principle focal point for questions, concerns and problems related to preparing and submitting Promotion Recommendation Forms (PRF) to 15 AF
  • Provide support for keeping all 15 AF subordinate units aware of promotion board schedules, updates, and other relevant information. Directly communicates with wing staffs to ensure timeliness and accuracy of promotion records. Assists in issuing appropriate suspense's to the HQ 15 AF Staff, DRUs, and wing staffs
  • Assist in ensuring officer and enlisted evaluations from the 15 AF Staff, DRUs, and all 13 AF wings are verified for correctness and accuracy and submitted to AFPC within a timely manner. Assist with tracking evaluations and providing 15 AF/A1 and Senior Leadership with data and metrics to analyze the progress and success of the evaluations program. Ensure all 15 AF units have current and correct guidance and policies related to the evaluations program and acts as a focal point for evaluations questions, concerns, and problems
  • Assist in administering corrective action as approve by the 15AF/A1 Director. Advise the staff on proper administration of military and civilian programs as instructed in applicable Air Forces instructions and local guidance. Monitor programs for discrepancies, researches root cause of discrepancies and provides recommendations and assistance for corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of Command Staff Support experience
  • Possess a Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of staff experience performing within a NAF or higher level staff
  • Possess a minimum of 1 year of experience in military Senior Leader Management and/or Executive Support duties. Must understand the relationships between officer promotions, evaluations, developmental education, Command assignments and other competitive opportunities
  • Secret security clearance.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
