Overview

SHAREPOINT DEVELOPER (NHTSA):

 

Bowhead is seeking for a SharePoint Developer to support the Department of Transportation (DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) contract located in the D.C. metropolitan area. The SharePoint Developer shall support the daily activity of adding and updating documents, presentations and web pages following and developing procedures, adhering to government policy, and assisting NHTSA interdepartmental efforts toward maintaining the NHTSA website(s). The SharePoint Developer will also work with other support Contractors, government staff and agencies to ensure that the NHTSA VSR web pages, its data files, interactive programs, and interfaces are kept up-to-date and fully accessible to all authorized customers including the public.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update the VSR web and SharePoint pages in accordance with industry best practices, NHTSA, DOT and all applicable Federal standards.
  • Design and develop SharePoint solutions; which may include; applications; web parts; features; content types; and other SharePoint constructs; by using Microsoft Visual Studio for deployment on SharePoint Server 2010 (support of SharePoint Server 2013 is forthcoming; and knowledge of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 is preferred).
  • Design and develop custom site and web templates, and site definitions.
  • Design and implement SharePoint lists; libraries; custom forms; and data roll-ups beyond out-of-the-box capabilities. Integrate with other data sources; applications; knowledge management systems; and line of business (by using Business Connectivity Services).
  • Make VSR databases accessible to the Internet-connected community, using industry standard technologies, as requested and approved by the database owners, NHTSA Office of the Chief Information Officer OCIO and others designated by the COR (TO), and provide support for such efforts.
  • Integrate SharePoint reporting functions with third part reporting solutions (e.g., Business Objects; Crystal Reports; SQL Server Reporting Services).
  • Provide technical expertise on SharePoint; specifically, collaboration trends; updates to the underlying technologies and product direction.
  • Examine customer needs and propose solutions that deliver high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate; both in writing and in person; with a variety of audiences; including team members; management; and stakeholders; regarding design approach and issues.
  • Maintain and prioritize high levels of quality while multitasking.
  • Remain flexible to work in a dynamic team as well as individually.
  • Physical Requirements: Occasional climbing of stairs. The scope of work includes providing support to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Bowhead delivers to DOT NHTSA critical safety data and analysis for distribution to the public. Other areas of support include Vehicle Crash Evaluation and Engineering Research Support, Web Page Design and Development, and Database Analytics and Database Research Support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field PLUS five to eight (5-8+) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Two to three (2-3+) years of demonstrated experience designing; developing; testing; and deploying SharePoint solutions (including features; Web Parts; templates; and other SharePoint constructs); preferably in large-scale enterprise or government environments.
  • Proven track record in developing SharePoint solutions.
  • Complete understanding of the full development life cycle.
  • Thorough understanding of SharePoint Server 2010; and Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint in addition to the visualization software listed above is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team as well as having a high level of initiative and excellent attention to detail.

 

Physical Demands:
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a clearance at the Public Trust level. US Citizenship is a requirement for a Public Trust clearance at this location.
