Overview

Senior Cloud System Administrator (CESAM):

Bowhead is seeking a Senior Cloud System Administrator to join our team in Mobile, AL. The Senior Cloud System Administrator will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing, configuring, managing, and monitoring the Geographic Information System (GIS) servers and services on the USACE Azure IL4 Cloud for the US Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, Spatial Data Branch.

 

Responsibilities

  • Apply basic knowledge of software development fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
  • Plan, design, provide technical support for, and implement Cloud communication networks.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain Cloud resources.
  • Review and apply Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) on Cloud resources.
  • Implement, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cloud server security strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor and analyze Cloud resource usage.
  • Implement Cloud server patches.
  • Troubleshoot Cloud server and services issues.
  • Recommend and implement changes to Cloud server and service configurations and operational procedures to increase efficiency.
  • Administer and assist Cloud users, including reviewing and assessing user needs.
  • Document Cloud service and service configuration and configuration procedures.
  • May conduct feasibility studies for new Cloud products and projects.
  • May assist in the evaluation and selection of equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (at a minimum) and at least three to six (6-9) years of experience in a Cloud Administrator role
  • Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems fundamentals and operations, as well as configuring and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience reviewing and applying Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
  • Experience configuring databases, such as Oracle, Azure SQL, and PostgreSQL
  • Experience with basic networking and security concepts, such as DNS, HTTP, HTTPS, and SSL/TLS, as well as practical knowledge, such as reverse proxy, load balancer, and firewall configurations
  • Intermediate-to-advanced level skills in the Microsoft Office software suite—Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • CompTIA Security+ / Microsoft Azure Fundamentals Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using Kubernetes, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Data Warehouse, Azure Synapse Analytics, Docker, GitLab CI/CD, and Databricks

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically
  •  

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Public Trust level. US Citizenship is a requirement for admission to this location.
