Overview

Machinist (EPFAB-2023-19272):

 

Bowhead is seeking a Machinist to support the Engineering/Prototype shop at NSWCDD (Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division.) 

 

Bowhead offers:

  • Engineering Technician III pay at $28.79 per hour plus $4.22 per hour for H&W (Health and Welfare)
  • Paid vacation accrued up 15 days a year.
  • Paid sick leave accrued up to 7 days a year.
  • Paid holidays 11 per year.
  • Up to $175 for safety boots every two years.
  • Up to $5250 for college tuition per year.
  • Prescription safety glasses provided.
  • 401K matched at 3%.

Responsibilities

The desired applicant is an advanced programmer and operator of both CNC lathes, mills, and proficient with CAD/CAM programming. The applicant should be able to read and understand DOD drawings and be able to hold tight tolerances on machined parts. The capability to use manual lathes, mills and saws is a must along with the capability of using common measuring tools such as dial calipers and micrometers.

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma.
  • Must have at least five (5) year of professional technical experience programming/operating CNC milling machines and lathes. (Schooling and on the job training may be considered as experience)
  • Advanced ability to program at the controller and by using CAD/CAM. CAMWorks experience will be considered a bonus during position selection.
  • Proficient in creating drawings and models using CAD software. SolidWorks will be considered a bonus during position selection.
  • Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Proficient at reading and interpreting blueprints including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.)
  • Fully capable of using precision measuring tools such as dial calipers, height gauges and micrometers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, customers, management and respond to instructions/assignments.
  • Must be able to perform machining duties with little to no supervision.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
