SR. SCIENTIST (ERDC):
Bowhead seeks a Sr Scientist to use modern, approved research methodologies to address diverse forest health, growth, and sustainability research questions related to carbon storage and nature-based solutions within the Engineering with Nature® (EWN) research program. They will develop stocking estimates, growth and yield models from in-situ and remotely sensed estimates to develop and improve carbon accounting/modeling strategies. Additionally, our senior scientist will develop estimates related to total forest biomass, net carbon storage, and sequestration rates. They will possess skills and proficiencies with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online and be able to apply remote sensing tools such as LiDAR, Landsat, MODIS, and Sentinel for forest inventory and stand density related estimates. Out senior scientist will work with national forest inventory datasets and understand SQL and query processes and possess a working knowledge of database design and structure. Bowhead will ensure that our senior scientist possesses a strong background in statistics and quantitative modeling and developing machine learning algorithms.
Travel may also include regional trips (Mississippi and Louisiana). Each trip would be for 5 to 10 days for the Great Lakes and Great Plains Region; regional travel may include day trips or travel up to 5-days. Estimating a total for 8 trips will be required for this task.
