Overview

Engineering Technician II (E30-2023-19459):

 

Bowhead seeks a Part Time Engineering Technician II for work on NSWC Dahlgren supporting the E30 Gun Weapon Systems Division to join our team. The position is fully funded and in the second year of a five-year contract.

 

 

Responsibilities

The Engineering Technician performs complex and unique engineering support assignments. Designs and constructs major units and equipment. Develops new test procedures and measurement techniques. Conducts tests and experiments to prove/disprove feasibility of design. Reports to a Team Lead.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Manufactures cables and wiring harnesses.
  • Responds to and tracks issued work tickets.
  • Supports facility, assets, and equipment to maintain, repair, modify, replace, and upgrade.
  • Provides other support as requested.
  • Reads and interprets wiring drawing from Pspice/ ORCAD and AutoCAD Systems.
  • Troubleshoots electrical and electromechanical units.
  • Utilizes Multiple Connector assembly tools such DMK Crimpers.
  • Builds different types of connectors that require solder and mechanically attached terminal pins or sockets.
  • Reviews, edits, and submits drawings for redline work.
  • Wires solid state relays, circuit breakers and other assemblies.
  • Builds connectors for Ethernet, coax, and triaxle cables.

Qualifications

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with the MK38 weapon system.
  • Performs Quality Assurance Testing of units, modules and subsystems.
  • Certified or highly proficient in soldering.
  • Experience with naval gun weapons systems is preferred.

          

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in applying engineering services to Gun Weapon Systems components and assemblies.
  • This experience includes developing and testing solutions to solve technical problems in research and development, manufacturing, inspection, and maintenance, and assisting engineers in inspecting products, conducting tests, and collecting data.
  • Proficient in soldering.
  • Knowledge primarily in electrical engineering with some mechanical.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts. To receive and respond to instructions/assignments, must be able to read, write and speak in English Language.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. 
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time.
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically.

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
