Overview

APPLICATION PROGRAMMER (ERDC):

 

Bowhead seeks an Application Programmer to support the Engineering Research and Development Center (ERDC) contract located in Vicksburg, MS. The Application Programmer will design, engineer, and implement rapid application development technology based on complex system requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize DJango and Tethys Frameworks along with off-the-shelf computational analysis tools/libraries to develop web-based graphical and architectural interfaces for engineering applications as well as visualizations for data and tradespaces.
  • Utilize communication and problem-solving skills to review development needs of engineering applications, software, and interfaces and assist in making refinements and improving current approaches.
  • Develop dashboards, web applications, and workflows for projects utilizing common programming languages/tools such as, but not limited to, Panel, Python, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, Java, C# using Jupyter Lab, Jupyter Notebook, PyCharm, or Visual Studio Code environment.
  • Work on HPC systems and will use HPC-specific utilities.
  • Developed source code shall contain sufficient comments and documentation to allow future understanding of the intended functionality of each segment of the code.
  • Rigorous model testing procedures shall be implemented and results recorded before deploying the code.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in the development of using modern software development techniques to include, but not limited to agile software development (SCRUM), Test Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Deployment (CD) methodologies, use of GitLab source control, to include forking, feature branches, merge requests, and conflict resolution. 

Qualifications

  • BA/S in Computer Science or related field and an additional two to five (2-5) years of professional experience is highly preferred.
  • A CompTIA Security+ certificate may be required prior to starting this position
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

 

Physical Demands:
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Public Trust level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Public Trust clearance at this location.
