Overview

MECHANICAL ENGINEER - (2023-19628): 

 

Bowhead seeks to network with qualified individuals relative to a potential opportunity in St. Inigoes, MD, which is contingent upon award and not currently funded.  The Engineering Prototype and Fabrication Shop will perform development, testing, installation, and maintenance of shipboard and shore based electronic equipment. Support remote equipment installation requirements, including shipboard installation, fabricating models, including metal, wood, and fiberglass, and providing mechanical engineering consultation on projects.

 

The Mechanical Engineer will review, analyze, develop, prepare or applies engineering, technical or maintenance specifications, policies, standards or procedures.  

 

Responsibilities

Essential functions will include:   

 

  • Applies engineering techniques, principles, and precedents to develop, design, modify, install, test, evaluate, or operate electrical, electronic, radio frequency, avionics, mechanical, communications, stores, armament, ordnance, or related data processing systems for military weapon systems or associated support equipment or components.
  • Organize, analyze and prepare reports or presentations of technical data and information.
  • Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation.
  • Applies engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, configuration management, quality assurance testing, and acquisition support.
  • Analyzes designs, develops, implements, tests, or evaluates software, components, or systems related to engineering or functional requirements of military weapons systems
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing processes and demonstrates an understanding of part strengths in relation to orientation when using these processes
  • Experience with AutoCAD, electrical circuit design/troubleshooting, printed circuit board design, and reverse engineering techniques
  • Plans and performs test and evaluations of systems equipment or components.
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree with at least ten (10) years of experience in engineering or technical management with Navy or other DoD programs.
  • At least three (3) years of professional experience related to DoD systems.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

Physical Demands:  

  • Must be able to lift up to 10 to 25 pounds. 
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
