Overview

QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (2023-19697):

 

Bowhead seeks a Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team in Crane, IN. The Quality Assurance Specialist will help with (SOP) development, document review, Ordnance SOP writing, Hazardous Material, Calibration, and 6S (Lean Management). 

Responsibilities

  • Duties will include the use of various Navy and Dept of Defense enterprise systems, as well as non-standard (local) data systems, and information repositories such as SharePoint and IPDM.
  • Support will include the following: preparing, reviewing, revising, and maintaining technical documentation that incorporates information and data from Program Office, customer, end user, project leads, SMEs, and ISEAs. SOPs routing and approvals. 
  • Write Branch and Division level material regarding work methods and procedures related to Ordnance and Ammunition policies and procedures
  • Capable of managing several different tasks from various requestors.
  • Using Lean/6S procedures, conduct weekly inspections of organic workspaces and assist Division Quality Manager with inspections of additional workspaces. Update
  • Conduct monthly inventories of HazMat lockers, updating Safety Data Sheets, Tables of Contents, and usage reports as needed.
  • Identify factors affecting the compliance with existing 6S, HazMat, and Calibration policies and procedures.
  • Analyze existing processes for the purpose of gap analysis and alternative courses of action.
  • Using knowledge in DoD, DoN, & DLA orders/instructions, develop processes related to the movement, storage, and handling of small arms, crew served weapons, and Unmanned Aerial Systems.
  • Participate in monthly working groups related to Quality Control, Hazardous Material Management, and Calibrations.
  • Prepare written products supporting decision makers’ information requirements.

Qualifications

  • High School and 3 years of experience
  • Must possess excellent verbal/written communication and analytical skills, including the ability to develop general concepts into written procedures.
  • Background with technical writing or Ordnance and Non-Ordnance related Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • A self-starter who is comfortable working individually, as well as being a team player who understands the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and open communication Strong familiarity of military supply chain processes and product life-cycle management.
  • Familiarity of DoD acquisition, procurement, and business.
  • Ability to work at a Government facility in Crane, IN.
  • Position requires an understanding of software such as MS Word, additionally candidate will follow a template in such software.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001 and or Crane Management System principles.
  • Previous experience in writing SOPs
  • Mid-level proficiency with Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, & PowerPoint.
  • Previous experience working with templates in Word and other software. Tasking involves reviewing documentation in the templates that are utilized in certain software, no programming required.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 10-20 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a  security clearance at the Secret level. Applicants who currently hold a Secret level clearance are strongly encouraged to apply.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
