Sales and Business Development

Bowhead Transport seeks a Sales and Business Development specialist to join our team in Seattle, WA. The Business Development specialist shall perform various tasks related to direct sales, national and international business development and the logistical planning of cargo deliveries in Alaska, the North Pacific region and the South Pacific.  This candidate will implement comprehensive, affordable and effective strategy solutions for our clients and shall be capable of independently performing the complicated, technically challenging tasks described below.


Essential Duties:

  • Accept quotation requests by phone, email, text or other and respond in a clear, precise, positive, confident, and professional manner.  
  • Prepare quotations and present customers with those proposals.
  • Must show the ability to successfully close business and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Monitor customer correspondence and follow up on sales inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Monitor the US Government, SAM.gov web site daily for opportunities related to Bowhead Transport and Identify the specific opportunities uniquely suited to our company.
  • Pursue the US Gov RFP proposals on behalf of Bowhead Transport when appropriate.
  • Prepare RFP proposals and submit according to US Gov deadlines.
  • Coordinate with engineers and program managers on US Gov quotes, schematics, and specs to determine the best procurement route for their required specifications.
  • Occasionally travel to attend trade shows and other business development related meetings and seminars nationally and internationally.
  • Occasionally travel for operational oversight in Alaska or other national / international locations as needed.
  • Occasionally assist with cargo operations as needed.


  • (5 +) years of combined experience in the marine cargo industry, procurement, grants, and / or marine logistics.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, Teams and SharePoint.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time.
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically.
  • Must have US Citizenship and a valid driver’s license.
