Overview

Strategic Communications Writer, Senior (NPAO):

 

Bowhead is seeking a Senior Strategic Communications Writer for an upcoming effort located at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC. The Senior Strategic Communications Writer will provide execution support for all enterprise-wide internal and external communications; this may include marketing requirements and legislative engagements and analysis; strategic communications and planning support; as well as surge efforts that may include symposium / conference logistics and execution; event and protocol support; and other efforts as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to senior leaders in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • Create communication strategies and materials that support and promote engagement with internal and external stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with executive leadership, subject matter experts, and personnel key to informing and influencing command narratives
  • Think strategically, to identify needs and requirements, and to develop recommendations and solutions.
  • Manage small- and large-scale projects that contribute to a larger strategic communications plan.
  • Manage competing priorities under strict deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts/Science degree in English, Communications, or related field with 10 or more years of experience in defense acquisition or other federal appropriation / authorization matters.
  • Experience and knowledge of Congress, Navy Acquisition, the Navy and Department of Defense, desirable.
  • Strong demonstration of interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
