Overview

Senior Speech Writer (NPAO):

Bowhead is seeking a Senior Speech Writer for an upcoming effort located at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC. The Senior Speech Writer will provide executive leadership with advisement and assistance in writing and developing communication materials aligned with organizational initiatives and priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Experience writing speeches for senior defense and/or industry leaders.
  • Work directly with senior leaders to develop themes and messaging that aligns to and complements their speaking style.
  • Produce concise and properly edited products that clearly and logically convey complex information and ideas.

Bowhead seeks to network with qualified individuals relative to a potential opportunity, which is contingent upon award and not currently funded. Incumbent employees are encouraged to respond. No solicitations or third-party applications will be accepted.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Art / Science degree in Communications. Ten or more years of experience as a speechwriter.
  • Preferred military speechwriter (I or II level preferred) as demonstrated in applicant’s portfolio / writing samples.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong knowledge of Navy and Defense issues and current events; as well as working knowledge of naval history, heritage and traditions.

Target salary is $120,000/year to $140,000/year commensurate with experience

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
