Overview

Bowhead seeks a Military Operations Analyst to support the United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC), Space and Missile Defense (SDM) Center of Excellence (SMDCoE). Within the SMDCoE, the Office of the Chief of Space and Missile Defense (OCSMD) executes the life-cycle management functions of FA40 Space Operations Officers and develops a Space Cadre of skilled military and civilian personnel ensuring the Army meets operational space requirements in support of the warfighter.


This position will provide support to the OCSMD Professional Development efforts.

Responsibilities

• Manage OML for SOOQC, Space 200, and Space 300 with growth for future 40D Course OMLs.
• Provide support to the 40A ACS and TWI programs.
• Provide inputs and review to the Space Operations Officer chapter of DA Pam 600-3 and ASPDO Procedural Guide #3 (APG3) - Management of Army Space Professional Development Education for the Army Space Cadre.
• Provide space operations-related training and education advice to members of the Army space operations community (FA40s and non-FA40s).
• Provide inputs for updates and changes to APG1 – Space Badge Procedures.
• Assist in planning, development, and execution of the annual Space Operations Training Forum.
• Travel to conduct training as required.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma, BA/BS Preferred.

• 12+ years of related military experience.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, comfortable speaking in front of large groups (online and in person).
• Familiarity with Army officer accessions, development, and talent management processes.
• Familiarity with career progression for Army officers.
• Proficient with Microsoft 365 programs including: Excel (pivot tables, formulas, functions, and data visualization), Teams, SharePoint Online, Power Automate).
• Ability to brief higher ranking officials.
• Understand the MDMP process.
• Ability to write policy, edit policy, and review FMs, TRs, ARs, PAMs, etc.
• Ability to articulate space to non-space personnel.
• Ability to travel as required.

Desired Knowledge/Skills
• MOSQ: FA40 preferred
• Experience with Army Space Operations.
• Experience and understanding of personnel requirements in the Army Space Operations.
• Basic project management experience (requirement development, task prioritization, scheduling).
• Management of hiring processes for technical skillsets.
• Familiarity with USASMDC, USASMDC CoE, and USAHRC organizations and processes.
• Experience on General Officer level Service or Joint staffs.
• Experience with Military Event Coordination, e.g., training events or conferences.

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret or Top Secret/SCI level. US Citizenship is a requirement at this location.

 

Physical Demands:
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
