Overview

Bowhead seeks a Senior Space Subject Matter Expert to support the United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC), Space and Missile Defense (SDM) Center of Excellence (SMDCoE) also known as the US SMD School. SMD School (SMDS) core functions include: 1) Educate, train, and develop leaders for Space and Missile Defense operations; 2) Develop Army Doctrine for Space, High Altitude, and Global Missile Defense; 3) Develop individual and collective training tasks for Space and Missile Defense operations; 4) Train and educate the Army at large in Space and Missile Defense; and 5) Execute the US Army’s Quality Assurance Program to ensure standards are met in the education, training, and leadership development of Soldiers and Civilians.


This position will provide part-time facilitator support to the Space Operations Training Division (SOTD) Space Senior Leaders Course.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Facilitator for the Army Space Senior Leader Course (SSLC) to educate senior space officers, senior NCOs, and senior civilians on Space policy and strategy linkages to decision making across Army, joint, and National level agencies.
• Provide and share recent Army and joint experience, at the highest senior level ranks (GO/FO) on:
o current DoD, service, and Army Priorities
o USASMDC Mission and Priorities
o Army Support to Unified Land Operations
o implications for Army Space forces
• Facilitate education based on a strong understanding of and experience with Army interests and equities in DoD, service, and joint Space initiatives related to Space policy and strategy.
• Facilitate education and discussion on:
o Joint, Interagency, Inter-Governmental, and Multinational (JIIM) Implications to Army Space forces
o Army leadership and mentorship
o ethics and the Army Profession and Army Leader Development Strategies (ALDS)
o Space Acquisition processes
o Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE)
o JCIDS

Qualifications

• Experience as an Army General Officer.
• Experience with Army Space Operations.
• Understanding of Space Fundamentals.
• Experience and understanding of military operations.

Desired Knowledge/Skills
• Experience with space operations in a Joint environment.
• Experience with space operations in a Coalition environment.

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Top Secret/SCI level. US Citizenship is a requirement at this location.

 

Physical Demands:
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
