Superintendent Remote Alaska - UIC Nappairit, LLC

 

Construction of Civil & Vertical structures in Remote Alaska. Supervision of UICN work crews & subcontractors on and off project site including camp.

Supervise UICN work crews & subcontractors to completion of contract work & warranty work.

Mobe/Demobilization of equipment utilizing barging & air freight.

Responsible for supervision, direction, and safety of work crews during construction process.

This position is a Non-Exempt Temporary Position. 60-70hr week, Davis Bacon

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for supervision, direction and safety of UICN work crews & subcontractors in all aspects of commercial construction.
  • Read and interpret plans and specifications, read and correct shop drawings and utilize/maintain project schedule.
  • Adherence to the UICC Policies and Procedures including Shareholder employment opportunities.
  • Maintain worker safety and an accident-free work environment in strict compliance with OSHA rules. Perform Quality Control functions.
  • Work with Project Manager to budget, forecast, and manage craft labor, equipment, materials, small tools, consumables, and general working environment.
  • Work with Project Manager to review and update project schedule and three weeks look ahead scheduling.
  • Logistics understanding of barging & air cargo efforts. Unloading, staging & storing of material, food & equipment.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise:

  • Must be familiar with specific project, owner’s representatives, location of tools and equipment.
  • Ability to be responsible for supervision, direction and safety of work crews in all aspects of commercial construction.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret plans and specifications, read and correct shop drawings and utilize/maintain project schedule.
  • Must be committed to worker safety and an accident free work environment and in strict compliance with OSHA rules.
  • Must have OSHA 30 hour certification.
  • OSHA Competent Person.
  • Ability to perform Quality Control Functions.
  • Perform independently without direct supervision.
  • Ability to operate basic construction equipment, such as forklifts and loaders.
  • Have punctual and on time work history.
  • Job requires being reliable, responsible, dependable, and fulfilling obligations.

Qualifications

Physical Demands:

  • Strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing, heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Working on uneven walking surfaces, working on ladders and scaffolding.
  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating materials.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Loud noises, and/or extremes of heat or cold.
  • The work often requires wearing protective gear that may be uncomfortable.
  • The nature of the work environment may produce moderate levels of stress.
  • Work environment is that of a construction site.
  • May be working in close proximity to moving equipment.

  • Applicant may be subject to environmental conditions such as cold, heat, exposed to noise, hazards, and/or close quarters. Applicant must be aware of work environment at all times.

Required Experience:

  • Must be familiar with specific project, owner’s representatives, location of tools and equipment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • 15 years of construction experience
  • 7-10 years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Worked on remote School Projects
  • Worked on remote construction project experience
  • Cloud based construction systems
  • Microsoft systems

Employment Contingencies
Authorized Driver Requirement Authorized Driver Requirement: Employee must have a valid driver’s license and three (3) year clean driving record.

Employee must follow all Authorized Driver Policy and Procedures regarding approved vehicle usage.

 

Drug and Alcohol Testing Programs

All employees must pass Non-DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all UIC Non-DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program guidelines and requirements.

If working on a DOT project, employees must pass a DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program requirements.
