Overview

G/ATOR Production Engineer (Journeyman Engineer/Scientist) (SSETS-2024-21650):

 

Bowhead is seeking a Ground/Air Task Oriented Radar (G/ATOR) Production Engineer (Journeyman Engineer/Scientist) to work G/ATOR production engineering to supporting the development and execution of System Engineering Plans supporting the Electromagnetic and Sensor Systems Department at Naval Warfare Center Dahlgren Division.

Responsibilities

The G/ATOR Engineer will be working directly with the client supporting Marine Corps Ground Air Task Oriented Radar (G/ATOR) system, AN/SPY-1, AN/SPY-6, Enhanced Radar Data Display System (ERDDS), Enhanced Coherent Data Collection System (ECDCS), Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) and other Sensor Systems.

 

Job duties include but are not limited in:

  • Requirements identification through design verification to ensure user requirements; planned and executed engineering strategies in accordance with approved project acquisition strategies and plans; report contract execution status, provide support to all program acquisition and management review activities; establish and maintain requirements specifications; capabilities documents; requirements baselines (i.e., functional, allocated, and product baselines); interface control documents to facilitate development and verification.
  • Research and develop System/Subsystem specification documents. These documents shall include an assessment of the compliance, completeness, and consistency of component and interface requirements with current and evolving system requirements, information architecture, and system design.
  • Assess the flow down of operational requirements to systems functions and assess allocation of desired system functions to Hardware/Software (HW/SW) systems.
  • Support Government program managers by conducting research and reviewing requirements analysis to ensure that appropriate system and component solutions are developed.
  • Facilitate efforts to baseline, revise, and maintain requirements documents.
  • Plan, perform, and present results for modeling and simulation efforts for training and exercise scenarios; system performance prediction; and for system performance assessments.
  • Support the planning and execution of engineering strategies in accordance with approved project acquisition strategies and plans.
  • Support model and simulation accreditation efforts through:
  • tool analysis for accuracy and fidelity of outputs, comparing the results of one (1) tool to another, comparing modeled results to system data.
  • Supporting Simulation Control Panels and Accreditation Review Panels.
  • Providing draft technical assessment plans and assessment results.
  • Perform requested aspects of technical analysis and systems engineering support to facilitate aspects of architecture design, interoperability, specification analysis and development, solutions implementation, and systems sustainment of supported projects.
  • Decompose high-level system requirements.
  • Develop analysis tools to verify system performance.
  • Participate in system integration events with the combat system and platform.
  • Utilize model-based systems engineering processes, methodologies, tools, and techniques, as required by individual technical instructions/projects, in execution of tasks.
  • Conduct research and support the coordination, planning, and execution of evaluation activities to include performing assessment and integration testing, site acceptance testing, and other evaluation activities.
  • Coordinate testing, schedules, and related documentation.
  • Develop test and evaluation documentation, which include testing plans, laboratory testing documents, new technology evaluation documents, usability engineering documents and laboratory testing of sensor test articles developed by the product design agent.
  • Support Waveform development.
  • Support Clutter Management.
  • Support Electronic Protection development.
  • Support designing Electromagnetic Compatibility.
  • Support adding new techniques to the system.
  • Support data collection and analysis to determine effectiveness of signal processor.
  • Support implementation of signal processor in Software models of Radar system.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum in one of the following fields: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineer, Electronics Engineering, or
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following fields of study: Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics, or
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following fields of study: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineer, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics, or
  • Ph.D degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following fields of study: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineer, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Position requires 100% of work conducted at customer site.  

General Sensor Engineering experience since award of degree:

  • Minimum four (4) years if Candidate has a Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum two (2) years if Candidate has a Master’s degree

Specialized Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to perform detailed and complex calculations and knowledge of practices/principles necessary to assess advanced sensor systems concepts, assess specifications and perform system integration.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
