Overview

RADAR Systems Spectrum Engineer(SSETS-2024-21667:

 

Bowhead is seeking a RADAR Systems Engineer, Spectrum to work Aegis and or SPY–6 RADAR spectrum efforts to minimize the RF interfeerence while supporting the Electromagnetic and Sensor Systems Department at Naval Warfare Center Dahlgren Division.

Responsibilities

Bowhead is seeking a RADAR Systems Engineer, Spectrum to work Aegis and or SPY–6 RADAR spectrum efforts to minimize the RF interfeerence between the RADAR and 5G wireless systems,

 

Job duties include but are not limited in:

  • Engineering support design and development of CONOPS
  • Development of algorithms for mitigating RF interference between 5G wireless and SPY-6 RADAR.
  • Requirements generation
  • Modeling and Testing
  • Invention, review, and oversight of other government labs and contractor concepts.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum in one of the following fields: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineer, Electronics Engineering.
  • or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following fields of study: Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics.
  • or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following fields of study: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineer, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics.
  • or Ph.D degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following fields of study: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineer, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Position requires 100% of work conducted at customer site.  

General Sensor Engineering experience since award of degree:

  • Minimum ten (10) years if Candidate has a Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum eight (8) years if Candidate has a Master’s degree
  • Minimum five (5) years if Candidate has a Ph.D degree

Specialized Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in complex radar system engineering, design, analysis, or radar software development.
  • Solid technical background as demonstrated by certifiable experience formulating opinions, decisions and ultimate performance of the tasks specified in a contract statement of work.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to perform detailed and complex calculations and knowledge of practices/principles necessary to assess advanced sensor systems concepts, assess specifications and perform system integration.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to perform detailed and complex calculations and knowledge of practices/principles necessary to assess advanced radar systems concepts, assess specifications and perform system integration.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
