Overview

RADAR Systems Modeling/Simulation Engineer:

 

Bowhead is seeking a RADAR Modeling and Simulation Engineer to work Aegis and or SPY-6 RADAR efforts supporting the Electromagnetic and Sensor Systems Department at Naval Warfare Center Dahlgren Division.

Responsibilities

RADAR Modeling and Simulation Engineer (Engineer/Scientist) to work Aegis and or SPY-6 RADAR for developing future variants of the RADAR system.

 

Job duties include but are not limited in:

  • Support radar system design by evaluating system performance and regression.
  • Configure and execute RAMS model to evaluate performance regression test cases.
  • Analyze output data from SPY-6 Real Time Simulations (IQSIM/DETSIM) and the real time radar
  • Develop reports and presentations to document and communicate the results of the analysis.
  • Assist the M&S lead in maintaining group task list and schedule and supporting team scrum meeting.
  • Assist the M&S lead document and track prime contractor M&S priorities and deliverables.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum in one of the following fields: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineer, Electronics Engineering.
  • or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following fields of study: Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics.
  • or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following fields of study: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineer, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics.
  • or Ph.D degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following fields of study: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineer, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Position requires 100% of work conducted at customer site.  

General Sensor Engineering experience since award of degree:

  • Minimum ten (10) years if Candidate has a Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum eight (8) years if Candidate has a Master’s degree
  • Minimum five (5) years if Candidate has a Ph.D degree

Specialized Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in complex radar system engineering, design, analysis, or radar software development.
  • Solid technical background as demonstrated by certifiable experience formulating opinions, decisions and ultimate performance of the tasks specified in a contract statement of work.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to perform detailed and complex calculations and knowledge of practices/principles necessary to assess advanced sensor systems concepts, assess specifications and perform system integration.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
