Overview

Bowhead seeks an Engineering Technician to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division to work on Projects supported by the E20 (Advanced Hypersonics, Weapons and Guided Munitions) Division of the NSWC. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Hand soldering surface mount technology components under a stereo microscope
  • Perform a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies.
  • May be necessary to determine methods and sequences of assembly operations where complete information is not readily available.
  • Works from schematics diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, which include harnessing and mechanical components.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools, calibration tools and test equipment.
  • Makes continuity checks and conducts quality inspections on work in process and completed work. Perform quality tasks by visual observation, bill of materials and assembly drawings.
  • May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental/prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions.
  • Maintain board and parts inventory accuracy
  • Other work as directed.

Qualifications

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in applying engineering services to engagement system
    components and assemblies. This experience includes developing and testing solutions to solve
    technical problems in research and development, manufacturing, inspection, and maintenance,
    and assisting engineers in inspecting products, conducting tests, and collecting data.
  • Must have worked atleast two years with electronics surface mount technology.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
