Overview

Bowhead is seeking a Engineering Technician to support the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) on Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG).

Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of metallic powders for consolidation, such as loading hot isostatic press (HIP) cans, equal channel angular extrusion (ECAE) blanks, and spark plasma sintering (SPS) dies using a glove box under a controlled atmosphere
  • Setup, operate, and maintain TIG, MIG, and/or gas welding systems; setup, operate, and maintain a HIP, ECAE system, and SPS system to achieve desired microstructure evolution and material properties
  • Conduct post-processing annealing treatments
  • Assist in HIP can and SPS die design for improved consolidation, which may involve use of a coordinate measuring machine;
  • In addition, the technician will be expected to communicate clearly and proactively with team members, follow all safety protocols, and contribute to the development of quality assurance protocols.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in engineering technology, materials science, or related fields
  • Proficiency in welding using TIG, MIG, and gas welding systems
  • Experience with high-temperature furnaces
  • Proficient use of Office 365 applications for data entry, documentation, and basic data analysis
  • Ability to work in a team environment with strong communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Must maintain certification/license to operate Bowhead and Government vehicles

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with hot isostatic press, spark plasma sintering, and equal channel angular extrusion systems.
  • Experience with laser systems and coordinate measurement machines
  • Experience with data analysis
  • Experience with technical writing
  • Electrical worker, as defined by ARL and APG Safety.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
