The Laboratory Manager develops a sense of community among visiting researchers using the Barrow Arctic Research Center (BARC) laboratories. The Lab Manager serves as a positive role model to researchers and staff members. The Laboratory Manager enforces the UIC Science laboratory rules and policies and acts as a liaison between researchers and UIC Science Project Managers and Facilities Manager.
The Laboratory Manager manages laboratory space in the Barrow Arctic Research Center (BARC) as well as relocatable laboratory space, cleans and inspects lab space, conducts final 'walk-through' with lab users prior to their departure, performs minor maintenance and/or calibration of laboratory equipment, send equipment out for repair, if necessary, monitors safe storage and labeling of laboratory chemicals. Other duties as needed.
