JOB SUMMARY

This is a Full-Time position with UIC Business Enterprises at the Car Rental Shop. This position will be responsible for handling all rental reservations; returns of vehicles; and meet and greet customers.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage day to day operations of Car Rental; manage staff; maintain credit card machine; maintain staffing - scheduling; check in/out vehicles; and ensure all vehicles are maintained daily; weekly; monthly routine maintenance check - diagnosis. Deal with customers daily.
  • Assuring sales are reported to accounting with back-up on a daily basis. Assuring all car rental forms; direct billing; credit card; tax exemption etc. are properly filed and submitted to accounting.
  • Able to attend planning meetings with UHL General Manager Secure all vehicles; recommend repairs to auto shops for all car rental vehicles.
  • Monitor the budget and prepare quarterly taxes as directed.
  • Assist in the Establishment and implementation of departmental policies; goals; objectives; and procedures; conferring with UHI Manager.
  • Assist in the planning and directing activities such as sales promotions; coordinating with UHI General Manager as required.
  • 24 Hr. Emergency Call Out for Car Rental Customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Knowledge of daily sales/cash logs.
  • Must know how to do minor auto repairs; flat tires; un-stuck outside (cold weather work related) add oil; jumper cables jump; charge battery Valid Driver's License with a clean record.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge of vehicle troubleshooting; changing tire in/out; jump start vehicles; knowledge of cash management; and credit card transactions.
  • Maintain and ensure staffing issues are addressed properly. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment; meeting quality standards for services; and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing; excel; managing files and records; stenography and transcription; designing forms; and Blue bird.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing; promoting; and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics; product demonstration; sales techniques; and sales control systems.

Physical Demands:

  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Occasional physical activity.
  • Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting; pushing; or pulling required of objects up to50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical part; fumes; airborne particles; outside weather conditions and vibration.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock and loud noise levels.
  • When operating equipment; subject to constant jarring of body due to jerking movement of equipment and operating on uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to sit in the operator’s seat of equipment and safely reach all pedals; switches; levers; buttons; etc. required to safely operate the equipment (if authorized for that piece of equipment);
  • Must be able to sit in the operator’s seat of equipment and have an adequate field of vision of all instruments; gauges; warning lights; as well as an acceptable field of vision out of the windows and/or mirrors (if authorized for that piece of equipment)

Working Conditions:

  • Will work in all typed of weather. Work in different elevations.
  • Job site will contain light to heavy equipment; small to large equipment; materials; communication equipment and tools.
  • People standing; walking; sitting; signaling; and talking.
  • May be occasional bells; alarms; and whistles.
  • Applicant may be subject to environmental conditions of extreme cold; noise exposure; constantly changing work environment; irregular surfaces; slippery surfaces; moving equipment; open excavations; temporary structures; and general construction hazards.
