Overview

Bowhead seeks a Junior Telecommunications Mechanic to join our team supporting the program office for NSWC Corona – Corona Division in Norco, California. The Junior Telecommunications Mechanic will work directly for program leadership in analyzing complex and unique technical support assignments within a scaled agile environment.

 

Corona Division is the Navy’s premier independent assessment agent responsible for gauging the warfighting capability of Navy ships and aircraft by assessing weapons and integrated combat systems’ performance, readiness, quality, and supportability. The telecommunications mechanic will support the program office in telephone technical infrastructure supporting Corona Division operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform work involved in the routine installation, removal, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of voice and/or nonvoice communications systems.
• Work from job layouts, work sequences, and material requirements established by higher level workers, they install and terminate copper core and/or fiber optic house cables.
• Run cables, key cables, or house wire to all telephone sets, terminal connectors, lugs, pins, or screws, associated with key telephone equipment and/or terminating equipment for nonvoice circuits.
• Install and repair communication equipment such as call stackers, multiple-button sets, extension ringers, coaxial cables, various type connectors, and AB switches.
• Use standard handtools and a variety of test equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, current flow and continuity testers, and handsets to locate and diagnose analog and digital telephone set failures.
• Inspect, repair, modify, and maintain a variety of telecommunication equipment such as single, dual-line, multiple-button electromechanical, and digital telephones. Assist higher grade workers in installing, removing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electronic and electromechanical telephone key systems/PBAXs; intercom and public address systems; alarm systems; and teletype equipment.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in relevant field and (1) year of Cisco Voice over Internet Protocol (VOiP) technical support and experience in day-to-day operations of the VOiP telephone system, including infrastructure wiring or
• High School degree and (3) years of Cisco Voice over Internet Protocol (VOiP) technical support and (3) years experience in day-to-day operations of the VOiP telephone system, including infrastructure wiring or
• Degree must be from an accredited college or university
• Proven ability to work on high visible or mission critical aspects of a given program and perform all functional duties independently
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, Government personnel, and other stakeholders
• Strong team player, interpersonal skills, and good judgment
• Relevant technical certifications a plus


SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a Secret security clearance. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.

 

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time

• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
