Overview

SENIOR SYSTEMS ENGINEER | TIER III (MIELS):

 

Bowhead is seeking Senior Systems Engineers to support a customer in Stafford, VA. Support for the contract will consist of program management; logistics; asset management; engineering; customer service; research and development of new capabilities; test and evaluation; manpower, training, and personnel; new equipment fielding and training; financial management; information assurance; cybersecurity; and 24X7 enterprise services operations and sustainment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for complex system issues both on prem and in the cloud.
  • Resolve escalated technical problems that Tier I and Tier II support teams are unable to solve.
  • Administer, configure, and maintain complex systems, including servers, networks, and databases.
  • Perform in-depth diagnostics and analysis to identify root causes of issues across systems and applications.
  • Manage and maintain virtualized environments, including VMware or Hyper-V platforms.
  • Implement and manage security measures to comply with DoD/IC policies and regulations.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software, and hardware for critical infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement automation tools to streamline system administration tasks.
  • Perform regular system performance tuning and capacity planning to ensure optimal performance.
  • Oversee and support system backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures.
  • Coordinate system upgrades, patches, and maintenance to minimize downtime and risk.
  • Collaborate with network engineers, developers, and other teams to troubleshoot and resolve cross-functional issues.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to Tier I and Tier II staff on complex technical issues.
  • Implement and manage system monitoring tools to proactively detect and resolve issues.
  • Assist with evaluating and recommending new technologies, tools, and processes to improve system reliability and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, security policies, and regulatory requirements for all systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field.
  • Eight (8+) years of management experience (site lead only)
  • Seven (7+) years systems engineering experience.
  • Four (4+) years of experience supporting and sustaining DoD cyberspace programs.
  • Cloud certified.
  • DoD 8570 / 8140 compliance or information assurance certification commensurate with technical objectives and services required.
  • Preferred: 10+ years of experience supporting cyberspace capability development.
  • Preferred: 5+ years of experience with Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO) adversary detection, intrusion forensics, and network recovery hardware / software.
  • Preferred: Subject matter expert with DoD cyber protection team tools, techniques, and procedures (TTPs)
  • Preferred: Active CISP
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in information systems management or related field.

Physical Demands:

 

  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Top Secret/SCI level with Counter Intelligence Polygraph.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Top Secret clearance at this location.
