Overview

TECHNICAL WRITER/ EDITOR (MCSC)

 

Bowhead seeks a Technical Writer/Editor to support the Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) contract in Albany, GA. The Technical Writer/Editor must have expertise in Marine Corps Acquisitions and Logistics and the ability to write and update material for reports, manuals, briefs, instruction books, catalogs and related technical publications. This is a fast paced and dynamic environment supporting multiple acquisition teams, offering a rewarding opportunity to contribute to meaningful defense programs.  

Responsibilities

  • Editing and revising technical publications such as scientific and engineering research reports, technical publications, and manuscripts for which technical reviews have been completed.
  • Correcting errors of grammar, spelling, punctuation, formatting, and vstyle inconsistencies.
  • Preparing editorial corrections ranging from terminology substitutions to complete rewrites for improved clarity and coherence. Collaborating with authors and technical staff to clarify content and ensure accuracy of documentation.
  • Identifying discrepancies and gaps in documentation to enhance readability and understanding.
  • Experience editing technical papers and adhering to publication standards in a government environment.
  • Knowledge of working with scientific and technical subject matter is preferred.
  • Manage electronic libraires within the customers logistics information systems.
  • Must have editorial experience..
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in English or relevant field plus five to eight (5-8) years of technical writing experience is highly preferred.

  • Demonstrate experience editing technical papers and publications in a government environment.

  • Familiarity working with scientific and technical subject matter is preferred.

  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.

  • Must have strong oral and written communicate skills to effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.

  • Must be detail orrientedoriented and have exceptional organizational skills.

  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • This is an onsite position atMarineat Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany with the possibility for occasional telework.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 5-10 pounds 
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Public Trust level. US Citizenship is a requirement for a Public Trust clearance at this location.
