Overview

Jr. Engineer: (E30-2025-23751): 

 

Bowhead seeks to network with a Jr. Engineer to join our team supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), E Department. The Jr. Engineer will work directly with the client analyzing complex and unique technical support assignments aligned with U.S. defense mission objectives. This position will require onsite work at the Bowhead office or Navy installation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) program development, and coordinate projects.
  • Develop and lead process improvements by creating recommendations and procedures to enhance efficiency.
  • Manage the execution of inspection and maintenance programs and track system management.
  • Gather and analyze data and information regarding military weapons systems or Test and Evaluation assets.
  • Create, monitor, and maintain audit files for program compliance.
  • Compile statistics and data related to RDT&E projects.
  • Review technical documents and write narratives outlining changes or initiatives.
  • Analyze and report business activity and compile statistical reports.
  • Provide technical analysis of documentation in support of various events and milestone reviews.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree desired with four (4) years of experience in one or more of the following science, engineering, testing and programmatic disciplines/analyses: Strategic Planning, Computer Systems, Cost Estimating, Functional Analysis, Logistics Functionality, Military Weapon Systems, Operations Research, Test and Evaluation Program Analysis, Research Science, Systems Simulation, Training Systems, Information Technology, Cyber/Network Security.
  • Work experience in project/program support analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of program operations in meeting established goals, requirements, and objectives including concepts supporting the optimization of cost, schedule, and technical performance.
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) or Navy procedures, regulations, and policies including protocol for coordination of official demonstrations and VIP events.
  • Experience related to Gun Weapon Systems, and/or Navy programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of conventional munition portfolios preferred.
  • Knowledge of Foreign Military Sales documentation processes preferred. 
  • Experience developing and testing solutions to solve technical problems in research and development, manufacturing, inspection, and maintenance, and assisting engineers in inspecting products, conducting tests, and collecting data.
  • Experience analyzing information, systems specifications, data gathering and analytical techniques, and systems evaluation methodology.
  • Experience with NOSSA safety policies and documentation requirements preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Understanding of MS Project and ability to read/interpret schedules.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 to 25 pounds 
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
