Overview

SENIOR CONFIGURATION MANAGER (AT):

 

Bowhead seeks a Senior Configuration Manager to support Bowhead's Advanced Technology division located in Indian Head, MD. The Deputy Configuration Management Lead for Naval Weapons R&D activity will conduct detailed engineering modeling and simulation in energetics effects, structures and propulsion, design and development of warheads, solid rocket motors, solid fuel ramjet propulsion, countermeasures, fuzing and ordnance electronics for demonstration to limited production requirements.

 

Responsibilities

  • Identify, document, authorize, manage, and implement configuration control changes to help maintain full integrity and repeatability of the affected products, systems, or sub systems.
  • Provide Data Management for the collection, organization, storage, security, and analysis of data to ensure data integrity, accessibility, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards. 
  • Administer configuration management activities for engineering documents, parts, and BOMs, including managing engineering changes.
  • Operate and maintain Product Data Management (PDM) systems or documentation vaults to ensure version control. 
  • Manage ongoing efforts to migrate data into the division’s Integrated Product Database Management system (iPDM) for file and document management.
  • Able to advise, counsel, and provide technical direction to enterprise teams, fellow team members and all end users regarding database and analytic tools, dashboards, reporting, service metrics, automation, and service workflow development, specifically within iPDM.
  • Formulate and collaborate with leadership techniques for quality data development, implementation, and collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data.
  • Generate configuration status accounting reports, metrics and data extraction when needed.
  • Monitor and analyze information and data systems and evaluate their performance to discover ways of enhancing them.
  • Support the transition to Model Based Product Support (MBPS).
  • Review Technical Data Packages (TDP’s) ensuring all technical drawings, specifications, firmware, and software that define the configurations are included for manufacturability and are controlled via the organization.
  • Utilize knowledge and experience with The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Y14 design standards to accurately read and review engineering drawings to ensure completeness and accuracy and adherence to current standards.
  • Assist in planning, programming, budgeting, execution strategy, production, annual goals, and alignment of resources.
  • Provide risk management assessments and mitigation strategies to ensure reliable internal controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in business, science, or engineering
  • Minimum of ten (10+) years of configuration management experience or fifteen (15+) years of configuration management experience in lieu of degree 
  • Proven experience as configuration/ data manager
  • Knowledge of data integration tools and techniques for managing the flow of data across various systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Expertise in reviewing detailed plans, 2D/3D models and drawings for mechanical equipment and systems using CAD software
  • Well versed in DoD and industry configuration and data management standards.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure designs are accurate and meet all specifications.
  • Knowledge of ASME and IPC standards
  • Well-versed in database design, applications and information technology.
  • Excellent understanding of data administration and management functions (collection, analysis, distribution etc.)
  • An analytical mindset with problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing

Physical Demand:

    • Frequent walking, standing, and moving between workstations in the machine shop environment.
    • Ability to lift and move materials or parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
    • Regular exposure to noise, dust, and vibrations typical of a machine shop.
    • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
    • Occasional bending, kneeling, and reaching to access materials or equipment.

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
