Bowhead seeks a USMC Communications SME to join our team supporting NIWC Atlantic. The Communications SME will work directly with the client analyzing complex and unique technical support assignments and collaborate with other communications specialists, software engineers, hardware engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and program analysts within a scaled agile environment.
This position is 100% onsite. No hybrid/flex or remote work schedules are permitted for this effort.
• Serve as technical expert responsible for the planning, installation, operation, and maintenance of tactical and strategic communication systems in garrison or deployed environments.
• Work with Marines across multiple occupational specialties.
• Plan, configure, and supervise the deployment of voice, data, and radio networks to support command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence (C4I) functions.
• Assist with the installation, operation, and troubleshooting of communication systems, including tactical radios, satellite communications, network infrastructure, and information systems.
• Troubleshoot network and communications infrastructure to ensure robust and reliable communications.
• Provide strategic feedback to program leadership regarding proposed network and communications solutions.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards, frequency management, and communications security (COMSEC) procedures.
• Act as SME to develop and implement communications plans and policies that support tactical and strategic missions.
• Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations on equipment employment, logistics, and network architecture.
• Other duties as assigned.
• BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• COMPTIA Sec + or higher certification
• Spectrum certified and JICO course graduate a plus
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience with Marine Corps communications with either ground or air units.
• Demonstrated expertise in tactical communications planning, system integration, and team leadership.
• Proven record of managing equipment, and mission-critical networks under demanding operational conditions.
• Proficient in tactical data networks, radio frequency (RF) systems, and satellite communications.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and COMSEC procedures.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a Secret clearance.
Physical Demands:
• Must be able to lift, move, and position equipment in both indoor and outdoor environments, including on uneven or natural surfaces.
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Must be able to lean, crouch, twist, bend, and squat as needed to inspect or analyze network infrastructure.
• Must be able to work outdoors in deployed environments and perform duties in adverse weather conditions, including cold, rain, snow, and heat.
