Spectrum Technician (DETO-2022-2912)

 

Bowhead is seeking a Spectrum Technician to support the technical and operational services in support of DE projects within NSWCDD E10 in Dahlgren, VA.

 

***This position will require full onsite work at the Bowhead office or Navy installation. No remote opportunity for this contract***

Responsibilities

Specific activities include providing spectrum supportability to DE systems including pulsed power, RF, Laser, and CIED systems. This support will include conducting Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) interoperability evaluations to determine which incumbent systems are impacted by the DE and/or CREW systems; assisting with the DD Form 1494 (Application for Equipment Frequency Allocation) application, spectrum supportability risk assessments, and/or frequency assignment coordination; perform preliminary site surveys for DE, CREW, and other systems to better understand the Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (EME); provide EMC coaxial testing for DE and/or CREW systems; perform EMC analyses (to include link budget calculations) to ensure interoperability between DE, CREW, and other communication equipment.

 

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the design and installation of RF cabling and control lines
  • Assist with the design, build, test, and operations of a CIED system
  •  Support laboratory test and operations
  • Support laboratory test and operations

Qualifications

***This position will require full onsite work at the Bowhead office or Navy installation. No remote opportunity for this contract***

  •  Bachelors Degree Required. Engineer or other Bachelor of Science preferred.
  •  Five (5) years experience in spectrum management support activities (spectrum certification support, SSRA preparation, frequency assignment support).Required skills or certifications � Three (3) years experience in performance spectrum management and EMC analysis support directly related to Navy ship-based communications, DE systems including pulsed power, RF, Radar, EW, Laser, and CIED equipment  Demonstrated experience in use of spectrum analysis software such as EL-CID, SPECTRUM XXI, Visualyse, SCS
  •  Demonstrated experience performing EME site surveys and equipment characterizations. Licensed electrician highly recommended.
  •  Experience with testing setup/breakdown of equipment at the test sites. Cabling experience is highly preferred.
  •  Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  •  Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  •  Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team Physical Demands:
  •  Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds
  •   Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  •  Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

 

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
