Bowhead seeks an Acquisition Specialist to support its customer in Springfield, VA. The Acquisition Specialist will assist in coordinating and administratively managing R&D acquisition activities to include activities associated with various R&D solicitations and vehicles included, but not limited to BAAs, SBIR programs, STTR programs, contracts with UARCs/ FFRDCs, Other Transactions (OTs), and administration of Grants and Cooperative Agreements with Universities. 


Other responsibilities to include:

  • Provide knowledge and experience of DoD acquisition, including the Planning, Programming, and Budget Execution (PPBE) and Program Objective Memorandum (POM) processes.
  • Understanding and experience in pre-Award activities including the development of Acquisition documentation (Special Notices, RFIs, RFPs, BAA solicitations, market research, IGCEs, SOWs, SOOs, PWSs). Experience in source selection/scientific review evaluation process for R&D.

  • BA/BS, MA/MS or PhD in business, management, systems management, public administration
  • Greater than or equal to 15 years of work experience.
  • Desired:
    • Technical Degree in physics, mathematics, chemistry, computer science, or engineering or dual major with business, management, systems management
    • Acquisition experience in the US Government as a Government civilian or military.
    • Familiarity with NGA's acquisition systems and policy, including Orbit, PRISM, and
    • Research Acquisition System (RAS) or similar financial systems.


Physical Demands: 

• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically


SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Top Secret/SCI level. Must be eligible to obtain a CI Poly. US Citizenship is a requirement for Top Secret/SCI clearance.
